About this event
A compelling new art exhibition titled "Set Ashore" is coming to Sidwell Street's Positive Light Projects exploring the complex boundaries where human life collides with the natural elements. The free exhibition features a major body of work by local artist and main organiser Katarina Kos, alongside fellow artists Sandra Goodenough and Clare Flinn. Bringing the creative process to life, the artists will be painting live in the gallery during the exhibition where you can watch their artwork evolve.
Katarina Kos, an avid sea kayaker, draws direct inspiration from her first-hand experiences on the water to capture the raw energy of high seas. Her pieces confront ocean warming and climate change, challenging the Exeter community with the vital question: "What are we as individuals doing about it?"Complementing this theme, co-artists Sandra Goodenough and Clare Flinn focus on the immediate conflict at the shoreline, capturing the spaces "where land meets sea, where wildness and people live in uneasy harmony."
Highlighting the real-world impact of these tidal themes, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will also be joining the event to highlight their ongoing emergency work along our coastlines.
