About this event
Released in 1966, it captured a young Eric Clapton, newly departed from the Yardbirds, helping make British Blues louder, tougher and infinitely more dangerous. Featuring John Mayall, Hughie Flint and John McVie, the album sent shockwaves through the industry and helped lay the foundations for Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin and the British blues-rock explosion that followed.
Now, 60 years on, Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers celebrate this landmark release with an affectionate recreation of the album and the music that surrounded it. At the heart of the band is a direct link to the original sessions. Founder Sonny Flint is the son of Bluesbreakers drummer Hughie Flint, while vocalist and harmonica player Laine Hines is the son of Denny Laine, founder of the Moody Blues and later a key member of Wings.
Joined by guitarist Neil Roberts, bassist Pete Billing, keyboard player Rick Pentecost and acclaimed saxophonist Greg Heath, the band performs The Beano Album in full alongside material from the original Bluesbreakers live repertoire.
Recreating the atmosphere of British Blues in 1966, this is a celebration of one of the most influential albums ever recorded and the moment Chicago blues collided with a generation of British musicians to create something entirely new.
A must-see show for fans of blues, rock and R’n’B.
