About this event
Join Spork! this Halloween for another spectacular & spooky spoken-word event, featuring the annual “Dead Poets Slam,” and the gruesome twosome of silly poetry; Chris “Ghostly” White, and Edward “Dead Wood” Tripp. Chris White is a poet, performer and the founder of Spork! A multiple slam winner, his poems about love, ducks and other wet things are soul-searching, subversive and silly. Edward Tripp is an award winning, provocative, and prop-heavy performer; a stand-up poet, with a penchant for the ridiculous. “A roaring fire of absurd wit,” – Cor Blimey
THE SLAM
Eight famous poets will rise from the dead, brought to life by 8 contemporary artists for one night only! They’ll battle it out in a chance to win everlasting life, plus a cash prize of £100. Using a mixture of their own poetry, the work of their alias, and some stuff they make up on the night. Expect punches, pithy remarks and pure fi re, in the ultimate graveyard smash.
This year we have:
A comedian you didn’t know was a poet
A beloved Brummie & national treasure
A badass Queer Victorian poet that Ezra Pound cruelly referred to as “Hippopoetess”
Plus loads more!! Come along to find out who’s competing and to vote for your fave
